This is a brief note to follow up my telephoned invitation for you to be
STAP's guest for lunch on Friday, 8 July, the second day of the Panel's summer
meeting. Lunch will be from 1215-131-5 tn:Room 1S06 of

STAP lunches are informal, "sandwich" sessions in a conference room,
intended to provide an easy atmosphere for informal discussion. The object is
to give the members a sense of what science and technology (S&T) issues and
problems are on senior officers' minds. Discussion is off the record and very
informal, with guest and members sitting around the table and speaking between
bites. Generally, the Chairman will begin by offering you a chance to make
any remarks you wish and then letting discussion and questions flow. As you
know, STAP has had a close interest in DARPA over the years and the group is
looking forward to getting an update on significant projects your agency is
pursuing, as well as hearing your views on the S&T issues you believe will be
important in the coming years.
As you are an old friend of the Panel, the members are especially pleased
that you will be able to join them on the 8th. I have attached a current
