1. (SWN) SIGNIFICANCE: THE INITIAL PREPARATIONS FOR AN ARMS
DELIVERY ARE IN PROGRESS.
2. (SWN) REMARKS: TWO OSA-II MISSILE ATTACK BOATS (PTG) ARE BEING
PREPARED FOR DELIVERY AT ILICHEVSK PORT COMPLEX SUKHOY LIMAN.
A STAKHANOVETS KOTOV-CLASS ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF, FLOAT-ON/FLOAT-OFF
(RO/FLO) MERSHIP IS PARTIALLY DOWN IN THE WATER, OFFSHORE. ONE
OSA-II PTG IS BEING MANEUVERED TOWARDS THE RO/FLO BY A TUG AND
A SECOND OSA-II PTG IS AT THE QUAY. ALTHOUGH THE FINAL
DESTINATION OF THESE COMBATANTS IS UNKNOWN, THIS CLASS HAS BEEN
EXPORTED TO AT LEAST 12 BLOC AND THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES, MOST
RECENTLY ANGOLA, CUBA, AND NORTH YEMEN.
(SWN) ILICHEVSK IS A MAJOR SOVIET COMMERCIAL PORT ON THE
NORTHWEST COAST OF THE BLACK SEA.
