1. (SWN) SIGNIFICANCE: WEAPONS POSITIONS AND SEPARATE DOORS ARE
CONFIRMED ON THE 402W.
2. (SWN) REMARKS: WEAPONS POSITIONS AND SEPARATE DOORS ARE
CONFIRME~)D ON THE 402W, THE Y-CLASS SUBMARINE WHICH HAD BEEN
MODIFIED WITH A NEW CENTER SECTION AFTER REMOVAL OF HER
SS-N-6 SUBMARINE-LAUNCHED BALLISTIC MISSILE (SLBM) BAY.
AT LEAST TWO DOORS, APPROXIMATELY 6 METERS IN LENGTH,
ARE IN THE CLOSED POSITION. A POSSIBLE MISSILE TUBE MUZZLE
(APPROXIMATELY 3 METERS IN DIAMETER) IS VISIBLE IN ONE OF
THE OPENED POSITIONS ON THE STARBOARD SIDE. SIMILAR, BUT
LESS DEFINED, AREAS ARE EVIDENT IN THE OPENED POSITION ON
THE PORT SIDE. CONFIRMATION AS TO WHETHER THE 402W IS ARMED
WITH CRUISE OR BALLISTIC MISSILES IS NOT POSSIBLE AT THIS TIME.
