DHAMAR ARMY BRIGADE BARRACKS, NORTH YEMEN
1. (SWN) SIGNIFICANCE: MOBILIZATION ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED AT
DHAMAR ARMY BRIGADE BARRACKS, POSSIBLY IN RESPONSE TO THE
EARTHQUAKE WHICH OCCURRED IN NORTH YEMEN
2. (SWN) REMARKS: EQUIPMENT PRESENT INCLUDES 17 TRUCKS IN CONVOY,
15 BUSES, NUMEROUS SEDANS, ONE HIP HELICOPTER, AND ONE
AUGUSTA-BELL 206/212 HELICOPTER (GRAPHIC 1 AND 2). NUMEROUS
PERSONNEL ARE NEAR THE TRUCKS AND BUSES. THIS EQUIPMENT AND
ACTIVITY IS NOT NORMALLY OBSERVED HERE.

APPROXIMATELY 55 NM EAST OF SANA. OPEN PRESS REPORTS INDICATE
THAT AT LEAST 1,300 PEOPLE HAVE DIED AND 187 CITIES AND
VILLAGES HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
