(SWN) SIGNIFICANCE: THE ADDITIONAL DETAILS OBSERVED ON THE 189B SUGGEST THAT THIS VESSEL MAY BE A NAVAL AUXILIARY. 2. (SWN) REMARKS: A PROBABLE CRANE BASE WAS IN A FORWARD AREA OF THE SUPERSTRUCTURE THE LOCATION OF THIS BASE, THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF SUPERSTRUCTURE, AND THE LACK OF IDENTIFIABLE MAJOR WEAPONS MAGAZINES OR WEAPONS POSITIONS AT THIS STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION SUGGEST AN AUXILIARY ROLE FOR THE 189B. DEFENSIVE WEAPONS AND OTHER NAVAL-ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT MAY STILL BE ADDED TO THE SHIP. THE LACK OF OPEN SOURCE INFORMATION ON THIS VESSEL FURTHER SUGGESTS THAT IT HAS A MILITARY VICE A CIVILIAN SUBORDINATION.
