General formulae arc obtained for calculating the sound
field immediately in front of a vibrating rectangular
mcm1wanc. The viclaal sound field is calculated by
graphical Integrdclon and Illustrated by many diagrams.
Then general formulae for the radiation impedance are
derived; and finally its two components are calculated 00- *1 70"ed $.M-.

An analysis shows that the same wave types occur In
disks as in the case of secondary waves with plane
distortion field. In disks the dilatational wave that Is
without rotation In xyz is replaced by the extensional
plate wave, free of rotation only in xy, which formally
has the same properties in disks as the, dilatational
wave in ar. Infinite medium. As a secondary wave, the (Physics - -Wave Propagation,
extensional plate wave Is of course a combination of a 'i'r, v. 9, no, 6)
shear wave and a dilatational wave. (Author) Ofte Di TishnIcal Sentces
