Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/02/17: CIA-RDP91-00561 R000100020030-6 U ARTICLE APPS ON PAGE AAA WASHLNGTUN PUST 30 March 1985 CIA Proposal to Plug Leaks Is Shelved The Reagan administration ten- tatively has dropped a Central In- telligence Agency proposal to make it a crime for government employes to disclose national secrets without authorization, officials said yester- day. A unanimous decision to set aside ,the proposal was made at an inter- agency group meeting this week, the officials said. Officials said the group decided that if the administration is to seek a change, it will do so later as part of a single piece of legislation. "There is still a concern about this problem" of unauthorized disclo- sure, one official said, but it was decided not to seek a change in the law through a provision in the CIA reauthorization. If such legislation is sought even- tually, the official said, the decision will be made "at a high level." Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/02/17: CIA-RDP91-00561 R000100020030-6
