OBITUARIES
GEORGE ARTHUR BOUBLIK,
63, a retired operations officer with
the Central Intelligence Agency,
died of cancer July 16 at his home in
Vienna.
Born in Madison, Conn., Mr.
Boublik was a graduate of Middle-
bury College. During World War II
he served in the Army Air Forces
as a navigator and radar observer
and participated in several combat
missions in Italy. He was a recipient
of the Air Medal. After the war he
remained in the Air Force reserve
and retired as a lieutenant colonel
in 1969.
Mr. Boublik joined the CIA in
Washington in 1951 and held as-
signments in Europe, East Asia and
at CIA headquarters in Langley be-
fore retiring in 1983. He was
awarded the Intelligence Commen-
dation Medal.
Survivors include his wife of 35
years, the former Irene Ulmer of
Vienna; two daughters, Johanna
Boublik of Vienna and Army Capt.
Margot De Paz of Stuttgart, West
Germany, and two sisters, Ann Vol-
lans of Stafford Springs, Conn., and
Josephine Kind of Storrs, Conn.
