QEITUARIES
CHARLES WINSTON CLAXON,
71, a retired personnel officer with
the Central Intelligence Agency,
died of cancer July 14 at his home in
Bethesda.
Born in Switzer, Ky., Mr. Claxon
graduated from the old Columbus
School of Law, now Catholic Uni-
versity Law School. He served in
the Army Quartermaster Corps
during World War II. After the war,
he was a personnel officer with the
Army Corps of Engineers here.
He joined the CIA in 1951 and
worked for the agency until he re-
tired in 1973.
In retirement Mr. Claxon did vol-
unteer work for a self-help program
for the hearing-impaired; He was a
former president of the Central In-
telligence Agency Retirees Asso-
ciation and a member of the Bethes-
da Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Helen
Lydia Claxon, and one daughter,
Sue C. Fisher, both of Bethesda,
and two grandchildren.
ANNE RUTLEDGE WARNER,
59, a retired employe of the Central
Intelligence Agency who was a
member of St. Martin's Catholic
Church in Gaithersburg, died July
12 at her home in Gaithersburg af-
ter a heart attack.
Mrs. Warner was a native of
Washington and a graduate of St.
Patrick's Academy. She held ac-
counting posts with the American
Security & Trust Co. from 1945 to
1955, and did similar work with the
CIA until retiring in 1970.
Survivors include her husband,
Ronald J. Warner of Gaithersburg;
two sons, Ronald Jr., of Vidalia, Ga.,
and Stephen R., of Washington, and
two daughters, Suzanne N. Franklin
and Jennifer C. Warner, both of
Norfolk.
