Text of statement on Buckley

BEIRUT - Here is the text
of a statement by Islamic Ji-
had published yesterday in
the A Nahar newspaper. The
statement, repeating that the
group has killed US diplomat
William Buckley, was trans-
lated from Arabic by The As-
sociated Press:
In the name of God, the merciful,
the compassionate.
After the entire world became
aware that America was the chief ac-
complice in the crime against Tuni-
sia, and after It became Incapable of
justifying its ugly crimes against
Moslems, it tried to forge lies, saying
it had no proof that the American
spy, William Buckley, has been
killed.
It was trying to make people be-
lieve It has not received any blow in
retaliation for its participation in the
crime against the Moslem people in
Tunis.
It claimed that the spy was killed
two months ago, basing its claims on
its intelligence, on its Lebanese Intel-
ligence friends and their agents.
We wish to emphasize to the
world's Moslem community that we
have executed the spy, William
Buckley, in response to the strike
which was directed against the Mos-
lem people in Tunisia.
We are prepared to strike with an
iron fist in retaliation for any attack
on our Islamic people. We shall chop
off the hand that tries to strike at
Moslems. When Jihad Islami says
something, it does it.
The lies were aimed at misleading
the families of the hostages. The
American government and its presi-
