:military Affairs Committee, dated 30 Sept., as per request.
2. Call from Braclay Shaw, Special Asst. to Asst. Sec. of Was for Air
(dIr. Symington), exploring possibility that CIG take over functions of foreign
intelligence as G-2 is closing out this branch. '-liscussed project with Col.
Dabney, Montague and VanSlyck and will turn same over to ICAPS for action. CIG
to assume responsibility.
3. Mr. ',Verner, Dept. of Justice, informed me that ;far and Navy Depts.
have submitted versions of the espionage laws to Dept. of Justice, Office of
Spec. Asst. to Atty. Gen. (McGranery). The latter, with additional views of F.t.,
formulated a revision, not entirely in accord with 3dar and Navy. Dept. Justice,
Criminal Division, differs from views of Spec. Asst. Therefore, Dept. Justice
Justice is not prepared to make its views available until they have reached agreemanL
within the Dept.
