1. Attended session of the Senate Armed Services Committee on unification
bill, accompanied by the Director. No mention was made of CIG other than the state-
ments on pages 1 and 11 of the prepared statement of the witness, Vice Admiral Sherman.

3. Col. Edwards received a call from Rear Admiral Inglis, Chief of Naval Intelligence,
regarding reports that the Director would be requested to place CIG enabling legislation
in the record in connection with his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
I informed Col. Edwards that the question of legislation had been raised, and that the
Director had told the Committee that legislation had been prepared and would be intro-
duced after action on unification. I pointed out to~Col. Edwards Directive Committee
