1. Mr. .Bergman, of the Joint Congressional Atomic Energy
Cor~nittee called to state that they believed the House Un-American
Activities Committee would seek to subpoena any files we might have
in connection with the espionage activities of Dr. Fuchs. The Atomic
Energy Committee would like to know if such an attempt is made. The
Committee is interested in-any information we might have on exchange
of Atomic information with the British under the Manhattan District,
Energy Commission, and any documen s w c exis s Conn c on
would be with the Commission; nor do we have any material i.rz connec-
tion with Dr: Fuchs, as it is a security matter outside our province.
