1. The DCI testified before the Armed Services Subcommittee of the
House Appropriations Committee. Representatives present were George Mahon, Ch.
Harry Sheppard, Robert L. F. Sikes, Clarence Cannon, W. F. Norrell, John Taber,
Richard Wigglesworth, and Errett Scrivner.
2. In view of the Director's desire to employ retired military personnel,
I have discussed the matter with George Moore, Chief Clerk of the House Civil
Service Committee, in an attempt to have the Committee pass current legislation
presently before it which would permit this. I have also discussed the matter with
Mr. Winslow of the Bureau of the Budget, who will join me in discussing it with
Mr. Moore and Chairman Murray on 13 December.
