called to ask for the latest information on
1. Mr. Besterman of the staff of the House Judiciary Committee
STAT by the Senate. In
discussing this with Mr ruche c e hairman Walter to discuss
STATINTL the matter with him and Mr. Walters informed Mr. Dulles that Mr.
name had been deleted from legislation.
2. Attended a meeting with Senator McCarran. See Memorandum
for the Director this date.
3. Mr. Killea of State Department Intelligence talked with me
concerning the inspection of the State Department by Mr. Albrook
of Senator Case's staff. Mr. Albrook desired certain information
regarding a classified figure project of State Intelligence which
was in fact the NIS Program Personnel Figures. With Mr. Becker's
approval, Comptroller had informed Mr. Killea that there would be
no objection to his releasing those figures. Mr. Killea has now
informed me that the agreement with Senator Case was that Albrook
would receive no classified material and therefore the figures
would not be released. I assured him. that this was perfectly all
right.
