1. On instructions from General Cabell, I handed to Senator Symington
a short statement on General Cabell's participation at the Yalta Conference
in case any issue on this point was raised on the Floor.
2. General Cabell's nomination as Deputy Dir ctor of Central Intelli-
gence was confirmed by the Senate this date 1N7y4 a. fr .
3. ADD/A is handling all details of ascertaining that General Cabell's
commission is issued promptly and accepted prior to the issuance of any Air
Force orders relieving General Cabell from his current assignment.

5. With the approval of the Chief of Operations, I have informed Con-
gressman Kersten orally, in reply to his letter of 23 March 1953 to Mr.
Dulles, that CIA has a slight3W covert interest in

lative Assistant to Senator Duff, and after consultation with Mr. Amory, DDI,
who had discussed the matter with the DCI, I informed Miss Grube that while

1952, would have been overtaken by recent events and, therefore, of lit-
tle value. However, if Senator Duff wished a briefing on the Moscow Con-
ference and subsequent developments, we would be happy to send someone up
to give the Senator a thorough briefing on this matter. Miss Grube will
inform us as to the Senator's wishes.
8. In accordance with instructions from Mr. Dulles, I informed Con-
gressman Kersten that Mr. Dulles would not be able to keep his appoint-
ment with the Congressman on 21 April and that he would be happy to have
Mr. Kersten inform me in the matter in which he was interested so that I
might brief Mr. Dulles for a subsequent meeting. Mr. Kersten informed me
that the subject for discussion would be some information which II
