1. The Director has approved my meeting the plane on 25
September which will bring back the Joint Congressional Committee
on Atomic Energy, and try to make appointments with Chairman
Cole and Senator Hickenlooper so that they may be brought up to
date on the Soviet atomic energy situation.
me a list of former Baltic citizens who may be knowledgeable con-
cerning the take-over of the Baltic States by the USSR, and who
therefore might make good witnesses before the Select House Com-
mittee to Investigate Incorporation of the Baltic States into the
USSR. I have informed Mr. Walsh, Chief of the Committee staff,
that we have these names available in case Congressman Bentley
desires to interview them on his trip overseas. Mr. Walsh will
inform me as to the Congressman's desires in view of the fact that
the original request was for Russian citizens rather than Baltic.

5. Mr. Kirkpatrick has approved contacting the Senate
Immigration Subcommittee in an attempt to persuade them to back
date the bill granting permanent residence to to the 25X1C
date of his actual arrival in the United States rather than the date
of the passage of the bill.
6. The office of Congressman Gamble has inquired re-
garding the reasons for CIA failure to employ
Westchester County Tax Commissioner, after we had sent Mr.
a contact letter and requested him to fill out forms. I
will explain to them the problem of economy.
