Office of Legislative Counsel
Wednesday - 5 August 1953
1. Mr. Pitts, Administrative Assistant to Congressman Arends,
called to ask us to make an appointment to see a friend, Mr. Walter Lynn,
who is a sales representative for a new type of dictating machine. I have set
25X1A up an appointment with Mr.
Chief of Logistics on 6 August.
25X1A 2. Mr.
of the Map Division, has received a call from Mr.
Claxton, of the State Department Legislative staff, asking whether CIA
could prepare approximately 200 copies of an unclassified version of a map
originally prepared by OCI for a briefing of Secretary Dulles which shows
U. S. military bases over the world. The State Department is anxious to
make them available to Congressmen in connection with local talks which
Congressmen have to give. This matter is being checked with Mr. Sheldon.
3. Mr. Frank T. Collins, of the India/Pakistan Desk of the State
Department, called to inquire whether 15 additional copies of CIA map No.
11352 (unclassified) on India/Pakistan might be made available in connection
with the booklets being prepared for a Subcommittee of the House Appropria-
tions Committee and Vice President Nixon's group prior to their trip abroad.
Mr. II of the Map Division, is making arrangements to make the maps
directly available to Mr. Collins as they are unclassified.
4. After receiving the information from Mr. I I of the 25X1A
Inspector General's office, I called Mr. Hefner, of Senator Wiley's office,
to tell him that the Senator could inform his friends, the 5X1A
that their son, , would not be sent overseas. Mr. Hefner took
the opportunity to express the hope that there was no cause for concern in
the present , and I reassured him on this point.

or appear as a CIA man in the briefings. Mr. Kirkpatrick will check with the
DCI as to the briefing commitments made and how he wishes to have it handled.
6. I informed Miss Adams, of the office of Senator McCarran, that
had been approved for employment with CIA.
