Dear Mr. Shepherdson:
We wish to thank you and your organization for
the excellent help and hearty support you gave to the
hearings of the Baltic Committee. Through the cooperation
of your Baltic Committees, we were able to arrange an im-
portant part of our schedule of witnesses. We also appreciate
the great help your committee is giving us in preparation of
our report.
We are anxious to know, Mr. Shepherdson, if it is
possible for you to tell us at this time, the usefulness of
our hearings in connection with your radio broadcasts behind
the Iron Curtain. Have you been able to observe reactions
from the Communists as to the Baltic hearings.
We contemplate moving for an expansion of our in-
quiry so as to include other areas under Communist domination,
Czechoslovakia, Poland, etc. I am enclosing a copy of our
tentative amended resolution. I would. appreciate your opinions
as to whether or not this expansion would be of greater help
to Radio Free Europe.
I am enclosing a copy of a letter I received this
morning from Mr. Theodore C. Streibert, indicating his feelings
with. regard. to Voice of .America.
