The Senate Committee on Government Operations
has established a Special Subcommittee to examine into
bow the resident's security order of September 1951 has
been used by the Government agencies, the reasons behind
the issuance of the order, attempts by department heads
or their employees to suppress legitimate news on grounds
other than the President's security order, the proper
methods that may be used to protect real military secrets
without concealing information from the public for other
reasons, and to recommend corrective steps.
The Subcommittee is composed of the folio
