In drafting legislation ofl.papers requiring statutory
citations, I am informed by the House Judiciary Committee
that Titles 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 14, 17, 18, 28 and 35 of the
United States Code have now been recodified into positive
law. Therefore, the correct official citation on proposed
amendments to these Titles should be the U. S. Code cita-
tion and not the Stat. citation.
The other Titles have not yet been recodified and
therefore the U. S. Code citations are unofficial and the
Stat, citation should be used. In the latter case, one can
also use the popular name of the act followed by the Stat.
citation.
