1. Attached herewith is a memorandum
of a conversation between Mr. Humelsine, of the
Department of State, and myself, and Senators
McCarran and Ferguson pursuant to your instruc-
tions of 14 August.
2. At the conclusion of the conversation,
it was the opinion of Mr. Humelsine and myself
that the Senators would in all probability not
pursue the Davies matter any further.
