By using the "candle' melt spinning apparatus, the
effects of various spinning conditions upon the state of
spinning were studied. At excessively high tempera-
tures, the upper limit of the draft (where the spinning
is satisfactory) became smaller due to the thermal
degradation of the sample. The smaller the average
molecular weight (N[n), the lower was the temperature ON- T.A.1-1 S~ic-$

started to decline and the greater was the draft at low

of polyacrylonitrile monofilaments were investigated.
