Polyethylene terephthalate was used to observe the
,mWdal deformation of film In the glassy condition and
of crystalline films. It was shown that the formation of
the so-called "neck" which can take place In "cold
scratching" of crystalline and In forced-elastic defor-
mation of amorphous polymers is governed not by
phase changes bin has a purely relaxation character.
The results obtained can be inte. pi eted on the basis of
the assumption of a 'packet'* structure of the crystal-

On the basis of the etching method used there were
shown optical and electron microscopic studies of
structures of microopheruliten occurring In films of
polyethylene sebacate obtained from solution. The
saparate coexistence in the rWcroopherulice of poly-
ethylene sebacate of crystalline and amorphous phases
was established. The crystalline phase of the polymer
is constituted of a helical-ribbon shaped packet of
polymer chains composing the an-uctural elements of
the microophe-rulites themselves. The amorphous 010- of T-W-i
phase of the polymer consists of globular shapes not

ess is described by means of thermodynamical func-

benzene and hydrogenated monomers.
