It is shown by examples how the previous difficulties
with bath nitriding of high speed steel tools must be
explained. Their origin lies in the false use of the
nitriding bath as a quench bath and--or annealing bath.
The advaruage of bath nitriding is fully realized only if
the tool is n1tridcd after it has been hardcTwd and an- (Nictallurgy--Ferrous
