a closed cylinder is immersed in the suspension to be
analyzed. It is equipped with a diagram recorder
which draws a cumulative sedimentation curve in the
form of a stepped curve. The sedimenting material
itself repeatedly reduces the paper speed of the dia-
gram strip in such a way during settlement, that a
