MEMORANDUM FOR: Mr. John S. Warner

SUBJECT: Alger HISS
1. With reference to the report furnished you orally
on 9 July 1959 that Alger HISS probably would not travel
abroad this summer, confirmatory advice to this effect has
been received from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The
firm by which Mr. HISS is employed has indicated that he
will not leave for Europe this summer, but may make such a
trip next spring.
2. Should we receive further information concerning
any plans Mr. HISS may have for traveling abroad, we shall
