SE A" "OR F Approved For Release 2007/03/09 : CIA-RDP91-00965R000200060142-6 OGC; 9-1_,091 14140RATIUYJM FOR THE R r,CORD I. Colonel J. C. King, Chief, WH, and I discussed the case with Richard Helms and. General Cabell today, indicating the response klnri.ne, Chief Counsel, Subcommittee on Internal Security, on the .11.,diciary . I called Sourwine to ascertain if the ,Juut tc near .r were to be held today. Sourwine said it was not and offered no explanation. In pressing for his cooperation in~ Sourwine again indicated he di nod t know when this could be arranged. I was asked if I had any explanation for the leak in the newspaper concerning the case. I assured him I had no tcnowledge of the leak. Sour-dine concluded by saying when there was some public announcement on the hearing, he would get in touch with us. 2. Clearly Sourwine, at this point, is deliberately uncooperative and. if it were desired that a telephone call to Senator Eastland would be the only available procedure. J. C. King agreed that there was no immediate urgency, and on this basis General Cabell stated that he thought it best that we not go to Eastland but let the matter ride for a day or so. In the meantime, J. C. King will be in touch with the Department of State to see if it has taken any action. He promised to give me this information, and it is proposed that I drop by to see either Schroeder or Sourwine on 15 July. I.,C: SW: jem Chief, u"H f 0rt..~i.na1 -IJ ;subject LU Chrono >.
