senator Hen,~v 1V1. Jac son (D., Wash.) today released the transcript of
executive session testimony by three former senior officials of the National
Security Council who appeared before the Subcommittee on National Policy
Machinery during May, 1960.

Because this testimony related to the National Security Council,
it was taken in executive session in accordance with the "guidelines" agreed
to by the Subcommittee Chairman, Senator Jackson, and President Eisenhower
last July. Those guidelines state that: "Any testimony by present or former
government officials who have served on the National Security Council or its
subordinate bodies regarding the National Security Council and its subordinate
machinery will be taken first in executive session."
This testimony has been cleared for release in accordance with the
procedures set forth in the guidelines.
