TO: Legislative Liaison Officer of all Departments and Agencies
SUBJECT: H. R. 8748, a bill to revise, codify, and enact into law title 5
of the D'. Code, entitled "Government Organization and Personnel".
(Codification is as of 3/31/59)
It is understood that the Judiciary Committee, House of Representatives,
has requested the several Departments and agencies in the Executive Branch
for a report on the subject bill. In responding to that request, it has been
suggested that the proposed report be submitted in two separate and distinct
parts: (1) a general report covering matters of policy, and (2) a technical
report dealing with matters of form, language, and the like. Four copies of
each part of the proposed report should be submitted to the Bureau of the
Budget in the usual mariner for prior clearance.
If additional copies of the bill are desired, they should be requisi-
tioned from the Government Printing Office under the usual arrangement for
purchase of such items.
. To assist you in your examination of the bill, the Bureau has been
advised that a limited number of copies of a Committee Print of the reviser's
notes will be available from the House Judiciary Committee about October I.
Requests for a copy or copies of the Committee Print of the reviser?s.notes
should be made direct to Mr. Charles J. Zinn., the Committee's Law Revision
Counsel, Code 180, extension 3928. The requests may be made informally by
telephone.
If additional information is required, with respect to the preparation
and submission of the report, your questions should be referred to
Mr. Allen E. Reed, Bureau of the Budget, Code 113, extension 423 or 424.
