Wednesday - 18 March 1959
3. Bob Walsh in the Legislative Liaison Office of USIA called
to say that they had received a request from Ben Mandel, Senate
Internal Security Subcommittee, for materials on Tito's attack on the
Red Chinese communes. He said the only information USIA had
consisted of FBIS translations, and he was reluctant to duplicate
these materials and send them out without checking with us. It was
agreed that he would determine which of the FBIS publications
contained these materials and talk with us further before referring
Mr. Mandel to CIA.
