Subject: Congressional Hearing, Government Pay Increase.
1. Herewith are copies of prepared statement presented to
the House Post Office and Civil Service Committee today by Ewan Clague,
Commissioner of Labor Statistics, Department of Labor; Committee Print
(graph) relating Consumer Price Indices and Classification Act Employee
Salaries; program of witnesses for the day; and summary of my personal
observations on the hearing.
2. The Committee will reconvene tomorrow for continuation of
hearings. Witnesses to be heard were not announced however.
