Subject: Hazardous Waste - Hqs. Compound
1. In response to your inquiry, we have found that EPA
Identification Number VA3110312458 was issued to this office in
late 1986. This number was obtained to allow electrical
transformers located in the Original Headquarters Building to
be shipped to an approved disposal site. More recently, this
number has been cited on the manifests for PCB contaminated
soil (taken from near the Hammermill) which was shipped to an
approved disposal site.
2. To our knowledge, we have not initiated any action
regarding shipment of hazardous waste without first
coordinating with your office. Should you feel that the Agency
should operate under only one registration number, I would like
some assurance that we would not hold up activities looking for
an authorized person to sign shipping manifests or other
documents.

the installation located at the address shown in the box below to comply with Section 3010
of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act(RCRA). Your EPA Identification Number
for that installation appears in the box below. The EPA Identification Number must be
included on all shipping manifests for transporting hazardous wastes; on all Annual
Reports that generators of hazardous waste, and owners and operators of hazardous waste
treatment, storage and disposal facilities must file with EPA; on all applications for a
Federal Hazardous Waste Permit; and other hazardous waste management reports and
