2. The software functions that have a direct impact on AITODIN
processing are Validation, AITODIN Driver, and Operator
Interface.

changes to these functions result from the fact

Communications Link requires messages in ACP 127

that provided for the other communications links.
3. The current design has all outgoing messages originate in
JANAP 128 format only, with incoming validation capable of processing
either JANAP 128 or ACP 127; however, Incming Validation does not do
format conversion. With the addition of Messages will be
transmitted in either format depending on the communications link used.
Incoming messages may have to be switched between links, requiring format
conversion between ACP and JANAP.
4. Eacn validation process will be modified to process either ACP
or JANAP formatted messages. To provide format conversion each message
will be split into two files one containing the routing indicators and
the Other the remainder of the message. All other validation functions
remain the same.

5. The link drivers will construct the transmission version of an
outgoing message from the two message files created by validation. For
the AITODIN driver, this means that format line 2, that was originally
built by validation, will now be constructed by the driver using the
routing indicator file. The driver will then concatenate format line 2
with the remainder of the message and do the actual transmission. Link
selection, precedence processing, and bust for flash will be processed
the same as the current software.
