1. Numerous discussions have taken place over the past few months on the
subject of NPIC connectivity requirements and OIT responsiveness to these
requirements. I would like to offer my personal assurance that OIT remains
committed to providing the services you have requested.
2. While he was Deputy Chief of OIT's Network Services Group,
= had been in contact with members of your organization. On 19 and
20 October he contacted of your Application Branch concerning
SNA connectivity. OIT understands this to be an urgent requirement and is
committed to providing this service by 15 December 1988.
3. In a broader context, we encourage you to refine, to the extent
possible, your five-year projection of NPIC connectivity needs. We would be
pleased to assist in the review of this five-year projection. This would
enable us to better understand the overall direction of your connectivity
needs and to meet those needs in a more comprehensive way.
4. I have designated the newly appointed Deputy
Chief for Technology, Netwoices Group, as the OIT focal point for your
