and I want to express our personal thanks
to you and the people of your Command for making our visit to
MacDill so profitable. Particular thanks are due Adm. Hunter and
Col. Nelson Gough who devoted much of their time and their staffs
to ensure a very informative exchange. It. Col. John Rice also
earned our special thanks for his excellent management of the
details of our visit.
I am particularly sorry that we were unable to meet with
you, but I want to assure you that much of our efforts in the
area of warning doctrine and training are focussed on providing
you and other Commands with the earliest possible warning of
potential harm. It was particularly valuable for me to have the
time to talk to your intelligence people about our specific
activities and to have the reassurance from them that we are on
the right track.
