SUBJECT: Approval for Naval War Colle-ge.TDY
1. Request approval to travel to the Naval War College, Newport, RI on 27
October 1987 to address about 20 students on 28 October regarding Indications
and Warning. The students are from both the senior and junior classes; all
have appropriate clearances. A written invitation from the War College has
been extended and is attached.
2. There are also tentative plans for me to meet on the 28th with the
Strategic Studies Group, which is composed of officers at the 0-6 and above
level who are handpicked by the CNO and Commandant of the Marine Corps. My
participation with this group is solicited because of my background in Soviet
affairs and my four years of experience in working with earlier groups to
develop and refine maritime strategy of the future.
3. As indicated in the Attachment, the Navy will reimburse the Agency for
all expenses of travel and lodging associated with this TDY.
4. A/NIO/W, will act as NIO/W during my absence.
