This is the first conference of this type in some years; your presence and that of your col- leagues are testimony to the need for such gatherings. Purposes for the conference are several: to examine new concepts in warning and current operations from a substantive standpoint; to discuss new technologies for assisting us in performing both our common and our unique missions; to review cur- rent operating procedures and proposed revisions; and, of course, to get to know each other better and to establish even more effective lines of communication among and between us. We will provide you an agenda upon arrival The STAT next two pages contain information about your conference colleagues. I ask you to pay particular attention to the final page. We need your feedback before planning any follow-on conferences. Your comments on this conference and ideas for future gatherings are essential. Equally important, we need to ensure infor- mation about you is correct so that we can continue to correspond with you.
