and timely intelligence, requisite situational information,
analyses, and policy options in a form that is readily useable and
easily convertible into recommendations for top-level decision

NATIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION &
SITUATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NSI&SMS)
An interagency network of people, facilities, equipment,
information resources, plans, policies and procedures designed
to provide for: (1) a continuous flow of information regarding
national security situations throughout the globe and across a
spectrum from peacetime activity through reconstitution
following nuclear attack, and (2) support to national-level
decision makers in monitoring national security situations and in
considering, implementing, or reporting on any U.S. response.
