I'm sorry not to have gotten back to Martha or Ken about
your trip to Europe. I somehow thought it was in March. We
looked at your itinerary and concluded that none of the places
you planned to visit was under any known threat from terrorist
groups at the time. The Regional Security Officers at the US
Embassies are best prepared to advise you of any particular
local threat situation and are willing to provide such
briefings. You might want to keep this in mind for future
trips.
International terrorist groups have not traditionally
attacked music groups or concerts. We advise all American
citizens, however, to exercise prudence when traveling.
Avoidance of places habituated primarily by Americans such as
discos, bars and fast food restaurants is always a good policy.
All of the above is a little late for that trip but may be
helpful for future ones.
I do hope you will let me know when you are going to be
coming this way (I'll even give you a threat assessment). It's
been too long a time and I would very much enjoy seeing you. I
hope that I could have some of your time before or after your
concert as well.
