GROUND FORCE CONTINGENT HAVE BEEN BUILT AT THIS PREVIOUSLY
UNUSED FACILITY IN CENTRAL KAMPUCHEA. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: TWENTY-TWO COMPANY-SIZE
COMPOUNDS, CONTAINING OVER 140 BARRACKS AND STORAGE BUILDINGS,
HAVE BEEN OR. ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING CONSTRUCTED AROUND THE
AIRFIELD. NUMEROUS PERSONNEL AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ARE
SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE AREA. ALSO, MARKINGS HAVE BEEN
PAINTED ON THE RUNWAY. (SWN)
THIS CONSTRUCTION INDICATES THAT A LARGE PEOPLES ARMY OF
VIETNAM (PAVN) UNIT MAY EVENTUALLY BE STATIONED AT THE
AIRFIELD, AND THAT THE RUNWAY IS BEING PREPARED TO SUPPORT AT
LEAST LIMITED FLIGHT OPERATIONS. BOTH WOULD FACILITATE PAVN
LOGISTICAL AND MILITARY CPERATIONS IN KAMPUCHEA. (SWN)
