1. SIGNIFICANCE: THE FIRST PHASE OF COMPATIBILITY TESTING OF THE
NEW SOVIET HEAVY-LIFT VEHICLE (HLV) WITH THE LAUNCH FACILITY
HAS APPARENTLY BEEN COMPLETED. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: THE TRANSPORTER-ERECTOR (TE), WITH THE SUPERSTRUCTURE
ERECTED ABOUT THE HLV, IS AT THE LAUNCH PAD, SUGGESTING THAT
THE HLV WILL SOON BE LOWERED ONTO THE TE FOR REMOVAL FROM THE
LAUNCH FACILITY. THIS IS THE FIRST OBSERVATION OF THE TE
DIRECTLY INTERFACING WITH THE HLV. THE MOBILE SERVICE GANTRY
TOWER REMAINS IN THE POSITION WEST OF THE LAUNCH PAD. (SWN)
COMPATIBILITY TESTING BEGAN (WHEN THE MOBILE
SERVICE GANTRY TOWER WAS OBSERVED ON THE LAUNCH PAD FOR THE
FIRST TIME. THE HLV WAS ERECTED ON THE LAUNCH PAD BY
THIS IS ONE OF TWO TE NORMALLY STORED AT TYURATAM
ICBM TEST SUPPORT FACILITY 31 WHICH IS THE
MAIN SUPPORT FACILITY FOR THE HLV PROGRAM. (SWN)
