SIGNIFICANCE: A PROBABLE PEOPLE'S ARMY OF VIETNAM (PAVN) UNIT
HAS OCCUPIED A LARGE MILITARY FACILITY AT THE AIRFIELD SINCE
(SWN)
2. REMARKS: THE UNIT CONSISTS OF 10 MULTIPLE ROCKET LAUNCHERS
M RL , 10 ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIERS, PROBABLY BRDM-2 (APC),
10 TOWED FIELD ARTILLERY PIECES, SIX TOWED ANTIAIRCRAFT
ARTILLERY GUNS, AT LEAST 14 SMALL UTILITY VEHICLES, AND
APPROXIMATELY 1,000 PERSONNEL IN TROOP FORMATIONS. AT LEAST
22 CARGO TRUCKS ARE ON ROUTE 5 ADJACENT TO THE AIRFIELD. THIS
ACTIVITY IS PROBABLY TO FACILITATE PAVN LOGISTICAL AND MILITARY
OPERATIONS IN KAMPUCHEA, AND MAY BE PART OF A VIETNAMESE
BUILDUP FOR THE COMING DRY SEASON OFFENSIVE. (SWN)

AND 47 NM NORTHWEST OF PHNOM PENH. (SWN)
