1. SIGNIFICANCE: LIBYAN MILITARY EQUIPMENT DISPERSAL IS
IDENTIFIED WITHIN GARRISONS IN THE TUBRUQ AND RAS AL HILAL
AREAS. THIS ACTIVITY MAY BE A REACTION TO THE U.S. PRESENCE IN
THE MEDITERRANEAN. (SWN)
2.?REMARKS: MAJOR ELEMENTS OF A TANK BATTALION HAD BEEN
DEFENSIVELY DISPERSED WITHIN TUBRUQ SA-6 SAM SUPPORT FACILITY
AT LEAST 30 MEDIUM TANKS, NORMALLY PARKED 25X1
IN SHEDS, ARE DISPERSED WITHIN THE FACILITY (GRAPHIC 1 OF 3).
THREE ARMORED VEHICLES AND AT LEAST 12 VEHICLES/TRUCKS ARE
PARKED IN FRONT OF SHEDS IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE FACILITY.
THIS EQUIPMENT WAS NOT OBSERVED THIS FACILITY, ,25X1
WHICH IS ADJACENT TO AND ON THE EAST SIDE OF TUBRUQ MILITARY
FACILITY WEST, HOUSES A TANK BN AND IS NO LONGER ASSOCIATED
WITH SA-6 SAM EQUIPMENT. (SWN)

BATTALION (BN), A BMP-EQUIPPED MECHANIZED (MECH) INFANTRY (INF)
COMPANY (CO), A POSSIBLE COMMAND UNIT, AND A SUPPORT/LOGISTICS
UNIT HAD BEEN DEFENSIVELY DEPLOYED WITHIN TUBRUQ MILITARY
FACILITY WEST (GRAPHIC 2 OF 3). THIS 25X1
INSTALLATION NORMALLY HOUSES A MECH INF BN1 AN SP GUN BN, A
HEAVY-LIFT BN, A LOGISTICS BN, AN ENGINEER/CONSTRUCTION BN, AND
