Approved For Release 2007/10/23: CIA-RDP91TO 1172R000300360003-4 OCI NO. 4093 COPY NO. 10 c Q/~,n CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY OFFICE OF CURRENT INTELLIGENCE 30 April 1954 GENEVA CONFERENCE BULLETIN - III General debate on Korea expected to end Saturday: At a meeting of the sixteen nations on 29 April, Secretary Dulles emphasized that the primary issue is the purpose and quality of supervised elections in Korea, rather than their territorial scope. He hoped no statements would be made which would under- mine prestige and authority of the ROK. The group agreed to set up a working committe of the ROK, US UK, Australia, Colombia, France, Philippines, Thailand, and Turkey to formulate a unification plan and to present it at a restricted session or plenary session after completion of the general debate. It is believed that the general debate will end on Saturday due to a lack of speakers. Only the Philippines and Thailand expressed an intention to participate in the general debate. Foreign Minister Pyun, at the Saturday session, will rebut the allegations of the North Korean, Chinese and Russian delegates. Several ministers expressed fear that this might start a series of countercharges.
