SUBJECT: Transmission of Working Grew Draft of EIC-R14-86 for EIC
Approval
1. Attached for your review is the Working Group-approved draft of
EIC-R114-,86, "Sino-Soviet Bloc Economic Activities in Underdeteloped Areas,
1 Jtly - 31 December 1958." An EIC meeting for the purpose of discussing
and approving the report prior to publication will be held on 11 February
1959 at 1000 hours, Room 1121 NlBnilding.
2. The, draft, as presented, has been reviewed and approved by the
Working Group for substantive accuracy and general form of presentation.
It has also been reviewed by the Secretariat for internal consistency and
by an editor for technical format and consistency. Because of the time
pressure under whieh this report is produced it is hoped that the EIC will
agree, as in the past, to delegate the Executive Secretary the authority
to make appropriate editorial diseases in an EIC-approved draft so that the
report may be expeditiously prepared for reproduction. Under these condi-
tions, then it is intended that the EIC meeting of 11 February will be
concerned with sUbstantive problems; editorial comments may be passed to
the Secretariat directly without requiring full Committee discussion.
