Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/09/03 : CIA-RDP92B01090R002600010015-3 Z4 May 9 7 RNDUM FO Chief, fITAUTOMAT SU CT: Stand-by for URPIC- I 50X1 STAT Copy of 6 I. By direction of My, Bissell. I yesterday officiallyinformed Colonel Mamie, in respones to his query, that there was no objection to putting URPIC-I on a stand-by basis inasmuch as It is our understanding that it would be feasible to reactivate URPIC- I by support from Wiesbaden within 24 hours after notification. 2. I explained further to Colonel hiacia that staging out of stan would be conducted by the Commander of Base B with a part complement, that after a relatively short stay in Pakistan Com- mander Base B would return to Adana, and that meanwhile if action was required from Adana that portion of equipment remaining could be used for emergency purposes, augmented if necessary on a 24 hour basis out of Oiebeistadt. I also indicated to Colonel Made. that Base B would likely continue operational until at least the fall. 3. On the basis of the foregoing, I recommend that you inform your personnel at Adana in order that they can accommodate themselves to plans for putting URPIC- I on a stand-by basis. 4. It is my understanding that Colonel Gibbs is informing Colonel Perry of this decision. hiefiNTA roject Director Deputy Project Direc 4-Dir Ops--Attn 5-file 6 -chrono iCtRicw JAMES C.
