IMMORANDUM FOR: CHAIRMAN, UTILIZATION ADVISORY anAR
SUBJECT: Army Request for Downgrading Sanitized Material (U)
1. Reference is made to memorandum, this office, TS(T)-4261, dated
12 February 1958, subject: "Army Request for Blanket Sanitization Authority
(U)," and to your memorandum TCS-3241-58, same subject.
2. The Army Member of the Board feels that the NOFORN classification
stipulated in paragraph 4 of your referenced memorandum isrestrictive and
requests UAB authority to release cited material under SECRET classification.
3. NOFORN classification prevents dissemination of this material in
routine media normally subject to limited exchane. It is'believed that
the procedure observed in sanitization adequately protects the source and
that deletion of the restrictive NOFORN classification will in no way
jeopardize its security.
