SUBJECT: Department of State Representation on the
Utilization Advisory Board

1. At 1045 on 18 February 1957, I met with Mr. Howard
Furnas, Department of State, and suggested that State might
wish to consider participation, as a member, in meetings of the
Utilization Advisory Board. Mr. Furnas felt that, at least for
the present, State had no particular interest in the utilization
of material derived from Project AQUATONE, but that he would
appreciate an opportunity to reconsider the invitation for State
participation in UAB meetings at some future date.
2. Mr. Furnas asked that State be put on regular dissemination
for the Monthly Accessions List and any finished intelligence
derived from a blending of photo intelligence briefs and memoranda
together with other sources. was apprised of
Mr. Furnas' request by phone and assured me that he would comply
with the request.
