The Central Intelligence Agency has received a number of
.Freedom of Information requests for articles or book reviews from a
classified CIA publication, Studies in Intelligence. In order to
accelerate future responses to these requests, we have decided to
review all issues of Studies, which commenced publication in 1955,
for possible declassification and release. We have determined that
the enclosed article or book review contains information of
interest to your Agency.
For your
information, we feel that CIA has no equities here and are
recommending to our own components that it be released.
However, we are forwarding it to State for an examination of
your interests, and of present day foreign policy and other
considerations.
Please review the enclosure under the terms of the Freedom of
Information. Act, and return it to us with your determination that,
as far as your agency equities are concerned, it may be
declassified and released, should be denied in whole, or can be
released in a santitized form. Please indicate those portions you
wish deleted by enclosing them in red brackets and indicating the
appropriate FOIA exemption.
